The hit Channel 5 drama returned in September and saw Tristan Farnon finally head home

All Creatures Great and Small viewers were left issuing the same plea and sharing their disappointment during the series five finale on Thursday night – begging for more scenes with Siegfried Farnon and Mrs Hall.

The heartfelt series returned in September with the official synopsis reading: “It is Spring 1941 and we return to Darrowby to find young baby Jimmy keeping our favourite Skeldale House family on their toes.

“Helen is getting the hang of motherhood with James away at RAF Abingdon, Mrs Hall and Siegfried are enjoying having a little one around and Carmody is now part of the furniture.

“With World War II now fully underway, Siegfried is taking up the slack at the surgery, Mrs Hall and Helen are considering their contribution within the community, and Carmody is eager to step up.

“Siegfried is keen to have everyone back, but Tristan’s surprise return won't be quite as straightforward as he hoped.”

Throughout the five seasons, fans have long been hoping that the stubborn vet (played by Samuel West) and his warm housekeeper (played by Anna Madeley) would finally confess their love for one another after the tension between the pair ramped up.

During the final episode last night, many fans were left upset with the lack of scenes between Siegfried and Mrs Hall, taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to air their frustrations.

One fan pleaded: “Brilliant acting as always #AllCreaturesGreatAndSmall #acgas but really missing the screen time between Siegfried and Audrey.

“Please can the Christmas Special and Series 6 be promising," while another added: "So far the slow burn has been done so well, gradually, realistically, mindfully.

“But now it feels as if they've extinguished that with a bang. Please tell me that this is not the death of a very good ship that is really loved in the #ACGAS fandom?"

Another was more optimistic, arguing: “Deciding that they've started giving us less Audrey and Siegfried for a reason.

“Like we'll all start going through withdrawals, and then they can give us some amazing moments in the Christmas special so they'll be more impactful?" (sic)

Actors West and Madley recently addressed the slow-burning romance between the two characters but kept their cards close to their chest.

Speaking to ITV's Lorraine, West said the pair would "be a disaster" together, whilst Madeley added that there "are lots of reasons not to" take their relationship further.

However, West argued that the pair might get together in the distant future, claiming: "We were thinking maybe when the children have grown up and have left home, no telly. There's not much else to do."

Despite the lack of scenes between Siegfried and Mrs Hall, fans loved the finale and were full of praise for the cast.
