The beloved gardener will help rehabilitate wayward dogs in his new programme
Alan Titchmarsh has overjoyed fans with the announcement of a major new TV project set to begin this Tuesday.
Channel 5's Underdog To Superdog will see the beloved gardener help rehabilitate dogs that have been rescued, abandoned or difficult to control.
The Love Your Garden presenter, 75, took a break from warning fellow horticulturalists to embark on a new journey. He will take dogs needing nurturing or a new path in life under his wing with the help of a team of experts.
The dogs will be assigned a trainer who believes they can turn the pooch to a new discipline.
Roles envisioned for the canines vary from rescuing stranded people from rivers to being film stunt dogs and models.
However, after a period of training, the dogs must then undertake a final challenge to prove if they have indeed become a “superdog”.

In this week’s episode, Titchmarsh will meet the excitable but unruly Sprocker Spaniel Lychee and NHS nurse owner Corinthia.
The nurse is unable to control her dog, who she took on during lockdown, with the pooch constantly speeding off without warning during walks.
Fire investigation dog trainer Clive Gregory will take on the challenge of putting Lychee’s overactive snout to good use by sniffing out fire risks and accelerants.
Titchmarsh and Corinthia will watch as Lychee, guided by Gregory, is put to the test while searching a burned-out building in a bid to be named a fire detection superdog.

Elsewhere on this week’s programme, Titchmarsh will follow dog trainer Lucy Heath turn distracted Poodle Freddie into a dog model.
Heath, whose own pets have appeared in some famous commercials and TV shows, will have to convince Freddie to sit still and pose for the cameras.
As a final challenge, the misbehaving Poodle will try for the opportunity to appear on the front page of a dog magazine.
Fans were delighted with Titchmarsh’s announcement and shared their enthusiasm for his new project on social media.
“This will be great, so looking forward to it,” one wrote on Instagram.
Another enthused: “Brilliant! This is gonna be great!”
