The Hello singer's residency in Las Vegas is set to end later this year

Adele has moaned about her level of fame and teased a "big break" from the spotlight is on the way ahead of her string of gigs in Europe later this year.

The Someone Like You singer has been performing regularly to adoring fans in Las Vegas since November 2022 and the residency is due to come to an end after two years this November.

Adele also has 10 special shows lined up at the Open Air Arena in Munich throughout the month of August.

While she initially sparked outrage with the ticket prices for the European string of dates, excitement levels have still been sky-high among her loyal listeners.

And now, it sounds like those who don't get to see her perform in Vegas or Munich before the year is out could be in for a long wait until the opportunity arises again - if at all.

Speaking to German Outlet ZDF [via New York Post] this week, Adele addressed her future, saying: "I don't have any plans for new music at all.

"I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things. Just for a little while.

"I don’t like being famous. I love that I get to make music all the time."

The quotes from Adele quickly sparked panic among her fans who feared she may call time on her music career for good once her current commitments are fulfilled.

Reacting to Adele's career announcement on X, one fan pleaded: "PLEASE I WANT TO SEE ADELE LIVE JUST ONCE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON’T QUIT MUSIC ENTIRELY BEFORE I GET A JOB SO I CAN BUY A TICKET."

"It's officially over," a second added before a third questioned how much time Adele would need given the length of time between each of her albums.

They argued: "She was already taking a 6 year break between her albums... so just how long will this one be???"

This was echoed by another fan who questioned: "What was she doing already??? 5 years or 6 years wasn't a break then i wonder what this break means!"

However, others were keen to show their support for the Rolling in the Deep hitmaker, encouraging her to take as much time out of the spotlight she feels is necessary.

"Good for you, English mother. enjoy your time off and we'll be here when you're ready," one fan praised before a second hit back at the naysayers: "She’ll be back, trust and believe!!"

While Adele's residency and remaining shows of the year will keep her in the spotlight, she also hit headlines for a rather different reason earlier this month.

The 36-year-old managed to secure tickets for the Euro 2024 semi-final between England and the Netherlands - a match which England emerged victorious.

England's victory was aided by a penalty from captain and striker Harry Kane who slotted home from 12 yards.

However, before doing so, one fan spotted an anxious-looking Adele in the crowd watching on, barking "shut up" at jeering Dutch fans nearby.

The outburst divided fans, with some encouraging the behaviour while others branding it "entitled".
