The presenter admitted she tries to get signed up 'every year' for the BBC competition

A Place in the Sun star Jean Johansson has admitted her agent has tried to get the presenter onto Strictly Come Dancing "every year".

The 42-year-old property expert is best known for fronting Channel 4's A Place in the Sun, but also hosts Key To a Fortune. However, her dream would be to take part in the BBC dance competition.

She explained her agent has tried "every year" to get her onto the glitzy show and has made clear the answer would be "yes" if producers ever asked her to be on the series.

She maintains this view despite the fact the show has faced huge controversies throughout the year, sparked after last year's contestant Amanda Abbington made complaints about Giovanni Pernice.

The actress decided to leave the show on week five and after her claims came out, others made complaints about "misconduct" on the series.

Pernice, 33, has denied allegations of "abusive" behaviour and Graziano Di Prima, 30, was axed from the show following claims regarding his treatment of Love Island star Zara McDermott.

Addressing the negative headlines which have been doing the rounds most of the year, Johansson shared: "I think it's shown they can bounce back.

"There's no doubt about it, there's allegedly been bad behaviour but from a production point of view, it looks like they're handling it professionally. They'll likely be ensuring that their duty of care is better than before."

Speaking to Love Sunday's Magazine, she admitted she would "still love to do it" in spite of recent claims.

The presenter went on to admit her "dream partner" would be Johannes Radebe, 37.

However, while she isn't taking part in the beloved dance show, Johansson will be tuning in to watch close friend Dr Punam Krishnan making her dance floor debut.

She A Place in the Sun star told the publication: "She's [Krishnan] so smart. I think it'll be well out of her comfort zone but all us Scots will be behind her. I can't wait to see her Beyoncé moves on the dance floor!"

Of her sign-up to the show, Krishnan, 41, commented: "This still doesn’t feel real, I am overjoyed to be a contestant on this year’s show.

"I have watched Strictly every year with my family and it feels extra special that it’s the 20th year, I can’t believe I will be the one getting Strictly-fied now. This is so out of my comfort zone, but I’m up for the journey and will give it my absolute all."
