Holidaymakers have desperately tried to leave Dubai after flooding threatened to overwhelm the city.
Footage from inside one of the world’s busiest airports showed passengers sleeping on the floor as they waited for departure flights.
Dozens of flights had previously been left grounded after torrential rain.
Reports even indicated some holidaymakers were being turned away from the terminal as overcrowding became an increasingly pronounced problem.

Clips circulating on social media appeared to show holidaymakers sleeping on the airport’s floor.
The United Arab Emirates faced more than 4.7 inches of rain before 4pm yesterday, making up the typical yearly average.
Dubai’s airport confirmed a halt to arrivals at around before announcing a “gradual resumption” over two hours later.
A total of 17 inbound and outbound flights were cancelled during the morning.

A further three flights were diverted, Dubai Airport said in a statement.
Operations were also suspended for around 25 minutes on Tuesday due to an intense storm.
“The airport is working hard with its response teams and service partners to restore normal operations and minimise inconvenience to our customers,” a spokesperson added.
UAE's National Centre of Meteorology yesterday issued a weather warning for large swathes of the country.

The warning covered areas such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
However, the Gulf region is facing a number of meteorological issues, with Oman confirming 18 people were killed during flash floods.
Separate footage from Dubai showed cars submerged in the deep flood waters.
Motorists were seen standing in the water and sitting on their car roofs while waiting to be rescued.
