The 21-year-old scored a stunner as his side kept their hopes of Euro 2024 glory alive

Jude Bellingham could yet receive a ban from UEFA after appearing to gesture to his pelvic area following England's 2-1 win over Slovakia on Sunday night.

Goals from both the 21-year-old and Harry Kane sent the Three Lions through to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, despite being far from their best during the fixture in Gelsenkirchen.

After the game, Bellingham appeared to gesture towards his pelvic area.

He has since explained his actions, insisting it was an 'inside joke' with some friends after it was alleged he'd aimed it in the direction of the Slovakia bench.

He also insisted he has nothing but 'respect' for how Slovakia performed.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, however, Bellingham may yet miss England's upcoming quarter-final showdown with Switzerland on Saturday.

That would be a substantial blow for manager Gareth Southgate, who has come in for criticism at the tournament so far.

It is not the first time such a gesture has been made in football.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone performed a 'cojones' gesture during a Champions League match with Juventus back in 2019.

Cristiano Ronaldo then mimicked the celebration after bagging a hat-trick in the reverse fixture.

Both men were able to avoid a ban at the time, receiving fines instead.

But if UEFA aren't happy with the gesture, then it's possible Bellingham will be missing when England take to the field at Euro 2024 on Saturday.

The report says that, if his gesture had been spotted by the referee, he could have received a red card after the final whistle.

England will need Bellingham to beat Switzerland, who have impressed with their performances so far.

The Swiss finished second in a group consisting of Hungary, Scotland and Germany.

And they then proceeded to beat Italy 2-0 on Saturday, with Remo Frueler and Ruben Vargas both on target.

Bellingham, meanwhile, said it was 'nice to give it back' to some critics after his heroics on Sunday.

His sensational overhead kick will be remembered for many years to come given the magnitude of the occasion.

And Bellingham was pleased to silence some of his critcs, with the 21-year-old saying: "Playing for England should be one of the most proud things of a footballer's career, but often, at times, it is quite difficult, you know.
