Drivers are being urged to avoid a popular route after reports of a "large vehicle fire" has caused the A5 southbound between the junctions with the A49 East of Shrewsbury and the M54 to close.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service is reporting to a large vehicle fire on the A5 eastbound, with the road being closed by West Mercia Police.
Other fire and rescue service crews from Shrewsbury and Wellington are using hose reel jets and wearing breathing apparatus to put out the blaze.
Posting on social media, the service urged motorists to avoid the area and check the traffic conditions before they embark on their journeys.

The SFRS Control account confirmed that the A5 Preston Island to Junction 7 on the M54 eastbound was currently closed.
According to the National Highways website, the scene, which is currently active, could take some time to clear.
According to the latest data, the event is expected to clear between 4.15pm and 4.30pm.
Three fire crews have been deployed after reports were first issued just after 2.30pm this afternoon on the road between Preston and Cluddley.
An update from SFRS states: "The fire on the A5 Eastbound between Preston and Cluddley is now out.
"Emergency services are working to partially reopen the road in the next 30 mins but please continue to check before you start your journey."
According to the Shropshire Star, a coach was involved in the fire, with rescue services continuing to deal with the incident.
Normal traffic conditions are set to return after 5pm with drivers urged to find alternative routes if they can.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service told GB News: "The Service was called at 2.27pm to reports of a large vehicle fire on the A5 Eastbound between Preston and Cluddley.
"Firefighters from Shrewsbury and Wellington attended and wore breathing apparatus while using hose reel jets to put out the fire which involved a coach in a layby.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
"Fortunately, no one is believed to have been hurt during the incident. Significant damage has been caused to the layby area and crews are currently making the area safe.
"The fire is now out, and the road is partially re-opened, however we would advise drivers to check before they travel."
