Temperatures are expected to plunge tonight as Britain braces for 'cold snap'
Britons are being warned to brace for an "artic blast" with temperatures set to drop as low as -5C tonight.
Forecasters say people across the UK should be "prepared for a chill" as conditions turn "much colder".
It comes just a week after Britons enjoyed glorious sunshine with highs of nearly 26C.
Snow is expected to fall over the hills in northern Scotland over the weekend, where strong winds are making temperatures feel colder.

Met Office forecasters suggest Northern Ireland could also experience temperatures of -5C, while other areas in the country will be just above freezing.
Meteorologist Alex Deakin said: "It is much colder out there for many, certainly compared to recent mornings and certainly a lot colder than last weekend.
"If you're heading out this evening then be prepared for those temperatures to be dropping pretty rapidly."
Showers are set to hit north and west England with sunshine over eastern England and southern Scotland.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Deakin added: "Temperatures are struggling to get into the teens across the south and many places further north.
"It's 10C or 11C at best – add on the strength of the wind across northern Scotland and it really does feel cold."
Weather experts added that Sunday will see an even colder start compared to Saturday, as Britons are warned about frost over northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
"Again on Sunday evening, those temperatures will be falling away pretty rapidly. High pressure looks like dominating into it next week," Deakin said.

The Met Office long-range weather forecast, from Tuesday (October 17) to Thursday (October 26), states: "On Tuesday, a cool start with a risk of mist and fog patches.
"There will possibly be a few showers in the far north and along some coasts, perhaps with some strong winds, otherwise likely dry with sunny spells.
"Following this, temperatures will probably return closer to average, perhaps warm in places, and there will likely be a fine and dry interlude where high pressure dominates.
"There is an increasing chance of cloud and rain or showers spreading from the south or southwest, progressing eastwards at times. There may also be some stronger winds in places as the high pressure migrates eastwards.
"Temperatures will probably remain close to average with lower risk of frost and fog."
