It is not too late to catch some holiday sun before the end of the year
As summer fades, new research has unveiled the best European destinations you can still visit for late-season sunshine.
It analysed over 50 countries, focusing on factors such as beach space per person, average temperatures, and daylight hours for September, October, and November to reveal the best autumn and winter holiday spots.
Topping the list - compiled by Wizz Air - is Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, which scored an impressive 42.7 out of 50. This 600-metre stretch of sand offers ample space for visitors, with average temperatures of 21 degrees and nine hours of sunshine daily during the autumn months, the research points out.
The research aims to help travellers discover hidden treasures away from crowded tourist hotspots, offering a perfect blend of space and ideal weather conditions for those seeking to extend their summer.

Following Cyprus, the second-best destination is Konyaaltı Plajları in Antalya, Turkey. This hidden gem scored 35.67 out of 50, offering a peaceful escape with space for nine beach towels per person.
Surrounded by mountains and clear Mediterranean waters, Konyaaltı Plajları boasts average temperatures of 20°C and nine hours of sunshine in autumn, Wizz Air reported.
In third place is Borsh Beach in Albania, known for its consistently warm weather. This Ionian coast treasure is gaining popularity as Albania emerges as a top destination for 2024.
Borsh Beach appeals to travellers seeking pristine landscapes and budget-friendly options. It offers an alternative to busier neighbouring countries like Greece.
These lesser-known spots provide ample space and ideal conditions for those looking to extend their summer well into autumn.
To gather the results, Wizz Air analysed beach size, dividing it by the area of a beach towel, and then by average daily visitors. This calculation estimates the space per person on each beach.
