Taking a trip to the beach is a great way to spend the weekend and appreciate what the UK has to offer.

The dirtiest spots had been named, according to rubbish removal company Clear It Waste.

More than 400 beaches were tested to create the top 10 list.

They were each given an overall water cleanliness score and count of E.coli.

Wharfe at Cromwheel in Ikley was voted as the dirtiest beach, having the highest count of E.coli and a low water cleanliness score.

Three of the five dirtiest beaches were located in Blackpool.

Blackpool is a popular tourist destination and is known for its amusement park, the Blackpool Illuminations and its beaches.

However, those heading there should be mindful if visiting Blackpool North, Blackpool Central and Blackpool South beaches.

They were all given low scores on the cleanliness of the water.

Beaches in North Somerset, Fylde and West Norfolk made up the rest of the list.
