Designers from both companies worked together to capture the iconic silhouette of Porsche cars
German sports car manufacturer Porsche has struck a partnership with Shenzhen-based electronics firm Honor to add a touch of luxury and automobile design to its latest folding phone.
Known as the Porsche Design Honor Magic V2 RSR ("RSR" stands for "RennSport Rennwagen," which roughly translates to "Racing Sport Racing Car") the result of this somewhat unlikely collaboration is a new outer design for the Magic V2 foldable phone that launched last year ― and a higher £2,349.99 price tag.
It's a £650 premium on the standard price of £1,699.99 for the Honor Magic V2.

It pays tribute to the iconic Porsche silhouette, which its designers lovingly refer to as the “flyline”, by adding a sleek ridge along the back of the handset. According to the marketing materials, this speaks “volumes about the legendary sports car and its sense of pulsating sportiness.
The camera module has also been upgraded from the standard flavour of Honor Magic V2 with a titanium frame and trapezoid shape. Honor is offering the phone in a single colour: Agate Grey.

This subtle blend of light green and grey has been used across a wide number of Porsche cars over the years, including the iconic 911.
Despite the addition of a "flyline" and angular new camera, the Porsche-approved retuning of the Magic V2 still keeps the same dimensions as the standard model, measuring 9.9mm when folded and 4.7mm when open.
For comparison, the iPhone 15 ― a phone that definitely does not fold in half ―measures 7.8mm thick, just 2.1mm thinner than Honor’s latest folding effort. Given this, it’s perhaps unsurprising that the Magic V2 has the crown for the world’s thinnest folding phone.
Those extra Porsche trimmings do add 3g over the standard model, tipping the scales at 234g total.
Honor used its keynote at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) tradeshow in Barcelona to confirm the Porsche Design Honor Magic V2 RSR would be coming to the UK for £2,349.99. In the box, you’ll find a few more goodies than the standard Magic V2, including a stylus, a protective case made from stitched dark grey vegan leather, and a spare 66W fast charger.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
Honor also teased its next collaboration with Porsche, a retuned version of its latest Magic6 Pro phone, which was announced during the same MWC presentation. According to the company, its upcoming “Magic6 RSR resembles a bold motorsports-inspired appearance with its centred, high-performance camera sitting within a geometric structure that references the aesthetics of a Porsche racecar.”
There’s no word on the price tag for this new team-up, but Honor CEO George Zhao did reveal during a keynote presentation at the Mobile World Congress tradeshow that news on the next Porsche-themed phone would be coming in March 2024.
