The world No 1 got the job done in four sets to edge closer to a historic 25th Grand Slam title

Novak Djokovic has made three complaints after beating Taylor Fritz at the Australian Open on Tuesday morning.

The world No 1 won 7-6, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 to boost his chances of winning a sensational 25th Grand Slam title of his glittering career.

Djokovic initially struggled to find his rhythm and Fritz capitalised, drawing level at 1-1 having lost the first set.

But the 36-year-old knows what it takes to win the biggest matches and eventually rallied to coast through to the semis.

Djokovic, speaking after the match, complained about the searing conditions at the Rod Laver Arena.

And he also admitted he was physically and mentally exhausted during his victory, too.

"I suffered a lot the first couple of sets and also due to his high quality tennis," he admitted.

"He was serving he was suffocating me from the back of the court. I was really struggling to find the right timing.

"It was extremely hot, physically very draining, emotionally as well.

"Huge round of applause for Fritz for a great performance today – he is playing amazing tennis."

On bouncing back despite being 0-15 on break points, he added: "Taylor has got one of the best serves in the world.

"And when he is feeling it I know the kind of threat he poses when he serves at such high quality.

"Conversion of break points was really poor but I think at the end of the day I managed to break him when it mattered in the third and the fourth set.

"I think I upped my game probably mid-way trough the third set to the end.

"I served extremely well, I probably had more aces than he did which is a surprise state.

"It helped a lot obviously in this kind of match up."

Djokovic will now face either Hannik Sinner or Andrey Rublev for a place in the final.

And the 36-year-old can't wait to see the two players go up against each other, admitting he'll be watching with some popcorn in hand.

"A different match-up, obviously both Sinner and Rublev are in great form," he continued.

"I watched Rublev against De Minaur, five sets, some of the quickest, gruelling exchanges I seen on Rod Laver Arena in years. Both played incredible tennis.

"Sinner is probably playing the best tennis of life.

"He had an incredible end of season and a couple of great encounters in Davis cup.

"I can expect him to play always at the highest level but let’s get some popcorn, chill and enjoy the match and watch them play."

Djokovic is now the overwhelming favourite to win the Australian Open, a tournament he's triumphed in 10 times over the years.

Djokovic then proceeded to claim glory in 2011, 2012 and 2013 - as well as in 2015 and 2016.

Djokovic struggled for the next two years but, between 2019 and 2021, won the competition three times in a row.
