The Briton is through to the fourth round of the competition following his victory on Saturday morning

Cameron Norrie is set to pocket a staggering £317,000 after beating Casper Ruud at the Australian Open on Saturday morning.

The 28-year-old is the last Briton standing Down Under, with the likes of Emma Raducanu and Andy Murray already out.

Norrie went into his showdown with Ruud as the underdog.

But the tennis star produced one of the best performances of his career to win 6-4, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3 and make the fourth round of the Grand Slam in the process.

Now, after his win, Norrie will pocket a massive £317,000 pay-day.

He will lock horns with Alexander Zverev or Alex Michelsen in the next round as he continues his hunt for a maiden Grand Slam.

Norrie had, prior to this year's competition, never made it past the third round of a Grand Slam.

But he's now daring to dream of going all the way, with Ruud powerless to prevent his opponent from soaring through.

Norrie was cheered on by sections of the Australian Open crowd as he battled his way to victory.

And the 28-year-old, speaking on court after his win, was delighted with the way the match played out.

"Honestly, it feels so special, especially on this court," Norrie stated.

"I think I practiced only once on this court.

"I didn't realise this court was going to be this atmosphere so it feels so good.

"I had to play really big and Casper served well and fought hard and I didn’t really let it bother me.

"I just kept a really good level throughout and it was a good mental performance (from me) to come out with a lot of energy in the third set.

"So I really enjoyed it and stuck to my game plan and I got through.

"I've been working really hard in the off-season to be a little bit more aggressive and I tried to free up in the match today.

"I volleyed really well which got me through and finished a lot of points at the net.

"I was just enjoying myself out there and the crowd were amazing.

"Everyone enjoyed themselves I think.

"I could tell you guys had a few drinks on a Saturday so it was a good atmosphere."

Norrie also revealed he intended to watch Zverev's clash with Michelsen, having watched many other matches so far.

"I've been watching all the matches, so I'll watch that," he continued.
