The tennis legend has taken to social media to set the record straight

Boris Becker has furiously hit back on social media to suggestions that he questioned Novak Djokovic's recent injury at the Australian Open.

Djokovic sustained a muscle tear during his showdown with Carlos Alcaraz on Tuesday, with the former world No 1 then withdrawing from his semi-final clash with Alexander Zverev on Friday after losing the first set.

Some, including John McEnroe, questioned the severity of Djokovic's injury and whether he was playing games.

The tennis legend has since taken to social media to share an image of an MRI scan, accompanying his X post with a caption that read: “Thought I’d leave this here for all the sports injury 'experts' out there."

Becker reposted the photo of the scan and wrote: "Word."

However, some tennis fans then accused the German of being among those to question Djokovic and whether his injury was legitimate.

And Becker has now posted on X once again, with the 57-year-old blasting those claims and saying they're an example of 'clickbait'.

He said: “I have never questioned the severity of @DjokerNole injury!

Djokovic had been aiming to win a record 25th Grand Slam title Down Under this winter.

Had he gone all the way, he'd have made more history by moving ahead of Margaret Court - who won 24 majors during her own playing days.

But Djokovic is now set to lick his wounds and go again, with the veteran already looking ahead to the French Open in May.

Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner won the Australian Open on Sunday with a straight sets victory over Zverev at the Rod Laver Arena.

And the Italian, speaking after his latest triumph, admitted he was overjoyed after claiming the third Grand Slam title of his career.

He said: "To my team, what can I say. We worked a lot to be again in this position.
