The duo recently played together at the Paris Olympics

Andy Murray admitted to having 'goosebumps' after Dan Evans pulled off a sensational comeback at the US Open in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The duo have a good relationship, having recently played doubles together at the Paris Olympics, where they made the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Earlier today, Evans looked set to exit the US Open after falling 0-4 down in the final set of his match with Russia's Karen Kchachanov.

But the 34-year-old mounted an astonishing comeback to secure a 6-7 (6-8) 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (7-4) 4-6 6-4 victory and progress to the second round of the competition.

Evans has made history with his win, with the Briton reigning supreme in the longest match in US Open history.

And Murray was one person blown away, with the 37-year-old taking to social media to deliver a message.

"Goosebumps," he wrote after sharing a tweet from Sky Sports.

Tennis fans have all jokingly said that Evans channelled his inner Murray after clinching victory against all odds.

"Dan is not letting us forget you, Andy!! Roller coaster rides all over again," said one user.

"Now you know how we felt all these years. A very Andyesque performance," were the words of a second.

"Evo got the memo that we've been missing out on those Murraycoaster matches," said a third.

Another said: "Where did he get that never say die attitude from? Almost as if doing Davis Cup and Olympics with a guy known for comebacks has rubbed off a little?"

A fifth stated: "You may have retired but your undeniable spirit lives on well played Dan Evans."

And a sixth opined: "I wonder where he learned to keep going no matter what? Let's go Dan!"

Speaking after his win, meanwhile, Evans joked that he'd prefer to take part in shorter matches going forward.

"I don't think I've played five hours, that long, in a day ever in two sessions, never mind in one," he said.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

"I was actually thinking that on the court. I've never practiced two hours, two hours. It's normally an hour and a half.

"I was trying to just play, stay out there as long as possible at 4-0 and just see where I could get myself.

"It's the longest I've ever been on a court. In the fourth set I had to check the set to see what set we were in.

"I wasn't entirely sure. I don't really want to do that again. That's for sure."
