Day One of the Paris Olympics didn't go to plan due to the adverse weather conditions.

Heavy rain on the first day of the Paris Olympics has forced the men's skateboarding street competition to be postponed for two days while the weather also affected the tennis schedule.

Paris' unique opening ceremony across the River Seine was washed out in a damp evening in the French capital.

And the rain continued into day one of the games, causing havoc across several events.

There were delays to the tennis schedule at Roland Garros while the conditions proved dangerous in the women's road race time trial.

Several riders fell across the 32.4km course with American Taylor Knibb coming off her bike four times.

Her mechanic also went flying in a now-viral video while trying to deliver Knibb a new bike in the race.

But while the women's time trial event still went ahead as planned, organisers decided to postpone the men's skateboarding event until Monday.

World Skate confirmed the postponement with a statement after meeting with Olympic organisers.

It read: "Due to adverse overnight weather conditions and following a meeting this morning with all relevant organisers, the decision has been taken to postpone Men's Street Skateboarding at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games until Monday, July 29."

Team GB has three athletes in skateboarding with Sky Brown and Lola Tambling competing in the women's park while Andy Macdonald is the sole male representative in the men's park event.

The women's park event takes places on August 6 with the men's park event scheduled to take place a day later.

All other events on Saturday were scheduled to go ahead as planned, although the delays at Roland Garros are likely to have a knock-on effect.

Jack Draper, Cam Norrie and Dan Evans were all scheduled to get their singles campaign underway on Saturday.

Matches on Philippe-Chatrier and Suzanne-Lenglen went without any issues with Iga Swiatek, Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz, Jasmine Paolini and Carlos Alcaraz winning their respective matches in straight sets.

That was due to the retractable roofs on both courts with those playing outside forced to wait.

LATEST SPORT NEWS:

All three British men were scheduled to play back-to-back on Court 6 while Katie Boulter is scheduled to be third on Court 11.

Andy Murray is not scheduled to play on Saturday with his doubles match alongside Evans expected to take place on Sunday.
