The 55-year-old hasn't been seen in public for over a decade, with a skiing accident in 2013 changing his life forever

Michael Schumacher's family are set for a celebration with the F1 icon's daughter, Gina-Maria, reportedly due to get married later in the year.

The Formula One legend continues to live away from the spotlight over a decade on from his tragic skiing accident.

The Schumacher family have always maintained their dignity and integrity while protecting the 55-year-old.

And now they have something to celebrate, with reports from Spanish newspaper Ultima Hora and German magazine Bunte saying Gina will marry later in the year.

Both publications say a wedding planner from northern Germany has been hired.

The wedding will take place at a villa in Spain, which was purchased by Corinna Schumacher back in 2017.

Corinna purchased the luxurious property from Florentino Perez, the current president of Spanish football giants Real Madrid.

The property is based in Majorca.

It is currently unclear if Schumacher will attend the ceremony amid his ongoing health battle.

Little is known about the F1 legend these days and his condition.

But Gina's wedding will bring cheer to the family.

Gina and Iain Bethke have been together since 2017, with the pair meeting when they were 20 and 2022 respectively.

Bethke is a German showjumper and horse lover, with the 29-year-old having a net worth of around £2.36million.

As for Schumacher, meanwhile, it recently emerged he had been driven in a Mercedes vehicle.

Doctors and carers have hoped familiar sounds will help improve the 55-year-old's condition.

And the German's brother, Ralf, admitted at the end of last month that he missed the way his sibling was before the accident.

“I miss my Michael from back then,” Ralf told Bild.

"Life is sometimes unfair.

"Michael had often been lucky in his life, but then this tragic accident happened.

"Despite modern medical options, nothing is as it used to be."

Ralf also says he wants privacy for the family as they continue to care for Schumacher at home.

“I would sometimes wish for a bit more peace and quiet for the family, that people don’t ask so many questions," he said.

"I believe that Michael had his time in the public eye and it was all great for him and I believe that whole generations have followed him in motorsport.

“But, after such a long time, it’s time to understand that you need privacy, even if it was a dramatic experience.

"It always surprises me how many people think of Michael and that’s nice.

"But some people still go a bit too far and too close to the family.”
