The former world No 1 was recently beaten by Carlos Alcaraz at the All England Club

Novak Djokovic has been defended after Britney Spears' husbanded branded his behaviour 'terrible' in the recent Wimbledon final.

Sam Asghari shared a clip on social media of the Serb shouting at a ballboy during his defeat to Carlos Alcaraz on Centre Court.

Spears' husband said: "I hate seeing things like this.

"A champion is only a champion when they lead by example.

"You are not greater than others if you act like this.

"One day the ball boy will be champion and will never forget this.

"Terrible behaviour. I hope to never be like this."

However, while Djokovic's behaviour towards the ballboy was certainly questionable, the 36-year-old has now been praised by former South African tennis star Robbie Koenig.

After the defeat, the Serb showed grace by hailing Alcaraz for his performance on the day.

"I think people have been talking in the past 12 months or so about his game consisting of certain elements from Roger, Rafa, and myself," he said.

"I would agree with that. I think he's got basically the best of all three worlds.

"I haven't played a player like him ever, to be honest.

"Roger and Rafa have their own obviously strengths and weaknesses.

"Carlos is very complete player."

And Koenig has hailed Djokovic for his classy comments while speaking on the Tennis Channel Inside-In podcast.

“I think Novak summed it up beautifully after the match," he said.

"For the first time, I've heard him speak about Alcaraz in really glowing terms.

"It's like, ‘okay, I've had a feel of this gun a couple of times and I'm really impressed. He is such a complete player.’

"He made that reference to the fact that he has a bit of Roger in him and a bit of a Rafa in him and he sees a little bit of himself as well in him.

"And, you know, that's high praise."

He added: “This is what I like about Djokovic. He doesn't just dish out that kind of praise.

"He didn't dish it out the first time he lost to him, right? He reserved his judgment, didn't he?”

Koenig also spoke out on Alcaraz and what the victory will do the 20-year-old.

The youngster now has two Grand Slam titles to his name, having won the US Open last year.

And Koenig thinks the Spaniard's confidence will now rise as a result of his remarkable triumph in London.

“For me, the whole match rests in that moment [second set tie-break] right there," he said.

"Djokovic goes up two sets to love, I don't think Alcaraz comes back. He might win a set, but I don't think he wins, I don't think he wins his first Wimbledon.

"But to navigate that period as well as he did. And, of course, that one game in the early stages of the third set was quite extraordinary for a young man.

“For me what this gives to Alcaraz from a mental perspective after what happened at the French Open, that is almost immeasurable for me."
