The Ukraine international nearly joined Mikel Arteta's side back in January

Football fans have hailed Mykhailo Mudryk after his stunning goal for Chelse against Arsenal on Saturday.

The Ukraine international has struggled for the Blues ever since rejecting a move to the Gunners back in January.

But Mudryk now appears to be coming good.

He won a penalty in the first half against Chelsea after his header struck the arm of William Saliba, with Cole Palmer then doing the rest.

And the 22-year-old then netted a stunning lob in the opening moments of the second half for his side.

Mudryk looked jubilant after his strike, standing with his arms outstretched while the Stamford Bridge crowd roared his name.

And fans on X have now hailed his goal, with one user saying: "Goal of the season, damn."

A second exclaimed: "OH MY WORLD!!!"

"Beautiful sublime lob! Reminds me of Lampard," were the words of a third fan.

Another joked: "What a lob from Misha.. i almost broke my TV over excitement."

A fifth fan said: "A very good goal, soo electric."

And a sixth praised Mudryk by saying: "Mudryk is who [Real] Madrid fans think Vinicius [Jr] is."

Chelsea have endured a slow start to the season under Mauricio Pochettino, who was appointed by the club after a dismal campaign under Graham Potter and Frank Lampard last year.

Mudryk has often been targeted by enraged fans due to his huge price tag, having cost the club a massive £88million in the New Year.

But with two goals to his name for the club there's now hope he'll finally come good and live up to his vast potential.

The goal will also be sweet for the Ukrainian due to a recent interaction he had with a fan.

A supporter asked Mudryk for a picture while he was on international duty, with the player happy to oblige.

However, the fan then tried to troll Mudryk by saying: "London is red!"

Mudryk fixed the individual with a stare and then bit back by saying: "Why are you asking for a photo then?"

The Chelsea star had been expected to join Arsenal in the New Year.

He had dropped numerous hints that he was keen on a move to Mikel Arteta's side.

But Mudryk then opted to join Chelsea instead - and explained his decision at the time by saying: “This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career."

Speaking before Mudryk's goal against Arsenal, Pochettino discussed the forward's improvement.

"We are so happy with him," said the Argentine.
