Tiger Woods is back at Augusta National with confidence he can still compete with the very best.

Tiger Woods continues to battle with ongoing issues with his body - but that isn't stopping him from dreaming about pulling on a sixth green jacket at the Masters.

The American sports icon has not been seen at an event since the Genesis Invitational, where he withdrew midway through the second round due to illness.

Woods confirmed his absence since then has been because his body "wasn't ready", as well as his game.

But he's back at Augusta aiming to make the cut for a record 24th consecutive year, although he has even bigger goals on his mind this week.

Woods was asked whether a decision has been made on whether he'll be captain for Team USA at the 2025 Ryder Cup.

And while confirming a final meeting will take place next week to figure out his plan for the Ryder Cup, Woods also made it clear his focus is on winning the Masters for a sixth time.

"We're still talking about it," Woods said.

"It's something Seth [PGA CEO Waugh] and I are going to sit back and talk about after this event.

"I said I'm gonna be busy for a couple of weeks so let me focus on this week and hopefully getting another jacket.

"And then we can talk about it next week."

He added: "If everything comes together this week, I think I can get one more."

Woods also addressed his previous comments where he wanted to try and play once a month this season.

He said: "When I was at Hero, once a month would have been a really nice rhythm. It hasn't worked out that way.

"But now we have major championships every month from here through July so now once the month really kicks in."

Woods also gave an insight into his physical issues and admitted that it changes on a daily basis.

"The body - thing's just flare up," he said.

"The training that we have to do at home changes on a day-to-day basis.

"Some days I just feel really good and some days not so much."

He added: "The ankle doesn't hurt anymore, it's fused. It's not going anywhere.

"It's other parts of my body that now have to take the brunt of it.

"Once they put the rods in it, that's good to go. But the back, the knee and other parts of the body have to take the load of it.

"And just the endurance cability of walking a long time and being on my feet a long time."
