Scottie Scheffler was arrested just hours before the start of the second round at the PGA Championship.

A police report from Scottie Scheffler's arrest on Friday morning alleges that world No 1 'dragged a detective to the ground' with his vehicle with the officer being sent off to hospital to undergo treatment.

Scheffler was handcuffed and placed in the back of a police car in the early hours of Friday morning following what he later described as a 'big misunderstanding' as he tried to enter the Valhalla Golf Club.

An unrelated incident earlier in the day where a man was killed after being hit by a shuttle bus had caused traffic delays outside the PGA Championship course.

ESPN first reported that Scheffler tried getting around the crash scene before being pulled over by police.

He was filmed being arrested and taken into the back of a police car with the Louisville Metropolitan Department of Corrections later released Scheffler's mugshot to the world.

He was booked in at 7.28am local time and was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals from an officer.

Scheffler was released little over an hour later before returning to Valhalla with an hour until his scheduled tee time.

A police report from Scheffler's arrest citation has now also been issued where it claims a detective was left needing medical treatment following the incident with Scheffler.

It read: "Detective Gillis was directing traffic into Gate 1 of the Valhalla Golf Course due to the road being closed in both directions from an earlier fatal collision.

"Listed subject was driving eastbound to gain access to the course.

"Subject pulled into the westbound lanes, where outbound traffic was flowing and to avoid backed up traffic.

"Detective Gillis was in the middle of the westbound lanes, in full LMPD uniform and a hi-visibility yellow reflective rain jacket.

"Detective Gillis stopped subject and attempted to give instructions.

“Subject refused to comply and accelerated forward, dragging Detective Gillis to the ground. Detective Gillis suffered pain, swelling, and abrasions to his left wrist and knee.

"It was a very chaotic situation, understandably so considering the tragic accident that had occurred earlier, and there was a big misunderstanding of what I thought I was being asked to do. I never intended to disregard any of the instructions.

"I'm hopeful to put this to the side and focus on golf today.

"Of course, all of us involved in the tournament express our deepest sympathies to the family of the man who passed away in the earlier accident this morning. It truly puts everything in perspective."
