Tyrone Mings was spotted moving freely after coming off in Aston Villa's 1-1 draw with West Ham on Sunday night.
The England international, who previously missed 445 days after damaging his ACL, left the pitch in tears following a tackle from Hammers forward Mohammed Kudus.
The 31-year-old's despondent demeanor has sparked alarm that he could be set for another spell on the sidelines.
However, a positive update has now emerged with the BBC saying the centre-back was seen 'moving freely' and 'easily' after being forced out of the proceedings.

Villa went ahead against West Ham inside the eighth minute of the match, with Jacob Ramsey on target.
Yet Graham Potter's side were plucky and levelled through Emerson Palmieri, with the visitors ultimately earning a draw.
The result means Villa are eighth in the Premier League table, four points behind Manchester City in the race to qualify for next season's Champions League.
As for West Ham, they're up to 13th - one point clear of Manchester United, who will lock horns with Fulham later in the day.
Villa boss Unai Emery was asked about Mings after the showdown in the Midlands.
He kept his cards close to his chest, however, saying: : "I don't know. Tomorrow we will test him and hopefully, it is not a lot. Things like that are punishing us.
"We started the second part of the season with two wins and two draws. We are very ambitious and we want more.
"We have to keep going and focus on Wednesday, recover some players, and try to use the last week in the transfer window.

"We have to get our performances quality. We want to play in Europe."
One player heavily linked with a move away from Villa this month is striker Jhon Duran.
The Colombian is being eyed by West Ham, while Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr are also lurking.
But Emery wants to keep hold of Duran, with the Villa manager adding: "Some circumstances, of course, they are not helping us to focus 100 per cent. Jhon Duran is our player and I want him here."

"I think the performance maybe deserved more. We played well after the first 15 minutes. We tried to win the ball back high," he said.
"It's a process of working day to day and how we improve. We look at the balance of the team.
