Tom Hanks was in the stands to watch Aston Villa come back from 3-1 down to draw with Liverpool in their final home game.

Aston Villa are on the verge of clinching Champions League football for the first time in their history after coming back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Liverpool.

The Reds have ended the season on a whimper with poor results against Manchester United, Everton and West Ham resulting in them losing ground in the title race.

Liverpool headed into the match against Villa knowing any chance of an unlikely last-ditch title challenge had been lost after Arsenal and Manchester City won again at the weekend.

But the match at Villa Park still had plenty on offer for the hosts as they battled to maintain their advantage over Tottenham in the fight to finish inside the top four.

Klopp nearly spoiled their party as Liverpool got off to a strong start and pulled away to a 3-1 lead.

It looked as though the Reds were going to give Klopp an impressive victory in his final away game in charge of Liverpool.

But Unai Emery made an inspired substitute to bring on Jhon Duran who soon made Villa Park erupt.

The 20-year-old gave Villa a chance of getting back into the match in the 85th minute after Calum Chambers delivered an inviting cross into the box.

And Villa completed the comeback just three minutes later when Moussa Diaby burst through the middle of the pitch and played a ball through to Duran, which hit the striker's leg and looped over Alisson into the back of the net.

The goal sparked wild celebrations on the touchline as Unai Emery bounced around with his players and staff.

Cameras also focused on Hollywood actor Tom Hanks, who looked completely stunned by what he had just seen.

The home fans were jumping up and down in the final minuteas Villa pushed for a winner, but Liverpool were able to hold on to avoid Klopp losing his final away game.

After the final whistle, Klopp approached the away end and bowed his head with his hand on his heart to show his appreciation for their support.

There's now just one game left of Klopp's nine-year reign as Liverpool manager as his era comes to an end against Wolves on Sunday.

For Villa, they may be able to secure Champions League football before their final game of the season.
