Salah has to stay

It is surprising that, as things stand, Salah is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the campaign.

They would be foolish to let the former Chelsea, Roma and Fiorentina leave given his ridiculous goalscoring statistics - with the veteran as vital as ever.

Salah helped to turn the match around. His first goal was a brilliant finish, with the Liverpool star poking expertly past Saints goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

And he took his penalty well, with the 32-year-old firing his effort into the top corner from 12 yards.

Liverpool show mentality of champions

The best teams win, even when they're not playing well.

And that's exactly what Liverpool did on Sunday. Though the Reds weren't at their swashbuckling best, they still had enough quality to reign supreme and claim all three points.

The title isn't won yet but it certainly looks as though they'll lift the trophy for the first time since 2020.

Liverpool are now eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table in the wake of Manchester City's 4-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday. As a result, title glory looks to be a case of when - rather than if.

Southampton will be frustrated

They really are good to watch but they simply make too many individual mistakes, which are proving costly each and every week.

They made a costly error to allow Szoboszlai to open the scoring, while McCarthy was way off his line as Salah prodded Liverpool level.
