Referee Kirk Bevins had to step in at one point to silence the crowd in Glasgow.

The second Premier League night of the season was overshadowed by hecklers in the Glasgow crowd with Wayne Mardle hitting out at the behaviour of a select few.

The players didn't appear to appreciate the rowdy atmosphere on Thursday evening and it seemed to affect some of their throws.

Referee Kirk Bevins had to step in at one point to try and silence them by shouting down the microphone to 'stop whistling'.

His intervention had the opposite affect as more fans joined in on the whistling as Luke Littler faced off against Luke Humphries in the final.

Sky Sports pundit Mardle couldn't understand how security hadn't stepped in to stop the perpetrators.

"That person needs to be careful because Kirk can do kung-fu," he said.

"Why is this person not ejected?"

Sky Sports reporter Abigail Davies also hit out at the rowdy spectators, writing on X: "Yet again, well done to those who paid good money to go and watch the best darts players in the world put on a show and actively contributed to them not delivering their absolute best by whistling.

"Really clever, that. There is no way you can be a fan of the sport if you do that."

Gerwyn Price was unamused by the whistling during his match against Humphries.

The Welshman was furious when a spectator whistled during his throw during the fourth leg.

He retaliated by hitting a maximum before turning around to the crowd and whistling back.

Price was also seen mouthing 'f*** off' as he stepped back to the oche for his next throw.

Littler also had to contend with the crowd disruption during his final against Humphries, which appeared to affect both players throughout the duration of the match.

The teenager ultimately got the job done against the world No 1 to pick up five points in the table.

He said: "It was a weird final. We both weren't playing well. Now and then I looked up at the screen and we were both on a 90 average.

"The crowd got involved. When Luke went 5-4 up, I thought just break him and I did well to hit an 11-darter. That was crucial.

"Getting past Rob [Cross], the comeback was unbelievable. I felt really confident against Michael and the final was a weird, weird game."
