Manchester City have officially announced Pep Guardiola's new contract.

Pep Guardiola has revealed his 'special feeling' with Manchester City played a huge role in his decision to sign a new two-year extension with the club.

The Spaniard's current deal was set to expire at the end of the season with question marks on whether he planned to walk away next year.

He was being linked with taking over from Gareth Southgate as the next England manager before Thomas Tuchel's appointment.

But reports emerged this week that Guardiola had agreed terms on a new deal with City.

The contract extension will see Guardiola remain at the club until 2027 despite the looming 115 charges City face for alleged breaches of financial rules.

It's been claimed that Guardiola's new contract doesn't include a relegation clause - a potential punishment City could face from the charges.

The long-awaited hearing will begin later this year with City strongly denied all charges against them.

Guardiola doesn't appear to be perturbed by the upcoming hearing and has revealed his delight in signing a new deal.

“Manchester City means so much to me," Guardiola said.

“This is my ninth season here; we have experienced so many amazing times together. I have a really special feeling for this football club.

“That is why I am so happy to be staying for another two more seasons.

“Thank you to everyone for continuing to trust and support me – The Owner, The Chairman Khaldoon, Ferran, Txiki, the players and of course the fans… everyone connected to Manchester City.

"It has always been an honour, a pleasure and a privilege to be here.

“I have said this many times before, but I have everything a manager could ever wish for, and I appreciate that so much.

“Hopefully now we can add more trophies to the ones we have already won. That will be my focus.”

Guardiola has won 18 major trophies in his tenure at the Etihad, including six Premier League titles.
