Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola inadvertently revealed that striker Erling Haaland has become a father for the first time, following his team's victory over Leicester on Sunday.
The Norwegian star marked the end of an emotional week by scoring in City's 2-0 win, his first goal in five games.
Guardiola disclosed the personal news whilst discussing Haaland's recent form, mentioning the player had experienced "a lot of emotions and an exciting few days" with partner Isabel Johansen.
In his post-match comments, Guardiola addressed Haaland's recent performances, acknowledging the scrutiny the striker has faced.

"Sometimes, Erling has been judged badly but it's part of football," said the City manager.
He explained the forward's recent form, noting: "He's tired, he's played a lot of minutes."
The City boss then revealed the personal news: "He's become a father for the first time in the last few days, a lot of emotions and an exciting few days for him."

Haaland expressed his relief at finding the net after a challenging period for the champions.
"S*** happens," the striker said candidly after his second-half header secured the points.
"It's always a relief when you score."

The Norwegian striker praised the opposition's efforts, stating: "Leicester did a really good game, we knew it was going to be difficult. It's been a difficult time. I'm just happy we're winning."
Guardiola, who marked his 500th game in charge, described the victory as more of a "relief" than happiness.
The win came amid a difficult period for City, who had won just one and lost nine of their previous 13 games across all competitions.

"I know the last 13-14 games have not really been good but comparing that to 500, we have to be so pleased and so happy with what we have done together," Guardiola reflected.
"We have done a lot of things that will be a memory forever."
Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy expressed disappointment at his side's inability to convert their promising display into points.

"That's why it hurts a bit that we didn't take anything off the game, because of the performance," the Dutchman said.
He particularly lamented missed opportunities, including a golden chance for captain Jamie Vardy.
"We created these moments in a great way," van Nistelrooy added. "As a striker, you need a bit of luck in taking these moments. But of course it's where games are decided."
