The former Arsenal star has made his feelings clear

Paul Merson has hit back at a Tottenham fan who branded him a 'gambling wife beating alcohol coke head' on social media following their 2-1 defeat to Ipswich on Saturday.

Spurs were poor throughout the showdown, with goals from Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap giving the Tractor Boys all three points.

The result was a huge surprise, especially given how Ipswich were previously winless in the top flight.

After the game, Merson mocked Tottenham by writing 'Spursy' on social media, while accompanying his post with three grimacing emojis.

One Tottenham fan was left furious, however, and decided to insult Merson.

They wrote: "Spursy maybe but let's not forget you are a gambling wife beating alcohol coke head.

"Rather be Spursy than you."

But Merson then decided hit back by sharing a brief clip of Luke Littler, with the 17-year-old pretending to reel in a crowd.

Yet the former Arsenal star, who also appeared on this year's edition of Strictly Come Dancing, insisted he wasn't bothered by the other supporter's nasty words.

"Some people can’t help themselves mate!" he added.

"Won’t affect me."
