The England and Manchester United star has become the third woman in a row to claim the gong

Mary Earps is in line for a windfall after being crowned the winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards.

The 30-year-old beat Stuart Broad and Katarina Johnson-Thompson to follow in the footsteps of Beth Mead and Emma Raducanu, who have both won the prize over the past two years.

Earps was recognised after starring for England at the Women's World Cup back in the summer.

And she's also impressed at club level for Manchester United, keeping 14 WSL clean sheets last season.

Now, research conducted by CasinoAlpha.com can reveal that Earps can earn a small fortune from sponsors in the wake of her triumph.

The England shot-stopper is now reportedly able to potentially earn up to £4,800 per sponsored post on the platform.

And her follower count has already increased by over 12,000 since being crowned at the ceremony in Manchester on Tuesday night.

While Earps won the award, however, Rory McIlroy and Stuart Broad can earn more on the social media site.

It's claimed McIlroy, due to having the highest number of followers compared to the other nominees, is able to pocket £13,500 per sponsored Instagram post.

And Broad is in second place. With over 819,000 fans on the social media platform, he's able to earn £5,200 per post.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson, who finished third, can earn £2,200 for each sponsored upload.

And Frankie Dettori and Alfie Hewett, who were also nominated, can potentially earn £1,800 and £231 per post.

Reacting to the news, CasinoAlpha chief editor Tudor Turiceanu said: “It’s great to see a range of British sporting talent being celebrated again with this prestigious award.

"All the nominees have given outstanding sporting performances this year and all were deserving of the trophy.

"Mary Earps’ win was certainly earned with her huge achievements both on and off the pitch this year.

"It is fantastic to see that women and their sporting achievements are being rewarded by SPOTY and it will be interesting to see if women’s football continues to grow in popularity and receives greater media attention after Earps’ win.

"Hopefully, all the sports being recognised will see a rise in funding and participation.”

Earps wasn't the only person to win on Tuesday night.

Pep Guardiola won Coach of the Year, having guided his Manchester City side to a sensational treble last term.

"All we did in football was to try and make people happy and the best way to make them happy was to get results.

"Fortunately we managed to do that a few times and if they enjoyed us winning it's only a fraction of the enjoyment we got from the support they gave us."

Dalglish added: "To go from the dressing room to the manager's office, I wasn't always the most comfortable, but I had fantastic support from senior people at Liverpool.
