United have confirmed in a short statement that the forward has been dealt with

Manchester United say they have dealt with Marcus Rashford after he went clubbing in Belfast last week.

Fellow United players are reportedly angry at the England star, who missed Sunday's FA Cup win at Newport County citing illness.

Rashford was pictured clubbing in Northern Ireland last Wednesday but the Daily Mail claims his binge session continued for a second night.

The 26-year-old is said to have been in Lavery's Bar on Wednesday before he was filmed heading into Thompsons Garage on Thursday, wearing the same clothes.

Rashford flew back to Manchester by private jet at 7am on Friday but called in sick for training.

United confirmed at the time that he would miss the trip to Newport due to illness.

However, manager Erik ten Hag confirmed on Sunday there was an 'internal' matter which he will deal with.

Ten Hag said: "He reported ill and the rest is an internal matter.

"It is an internal matter. As I said, we will deal with it. I will deal with it."

Rashford returned to the United training ground on Monday morning to meet with Ten Hag.

Now United have revealed that Rashford has been 'dealt' with and the matter is 'closed'.

The Old Trafford club said in a blunt statement: "Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions.

"This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed."

Rashford will be available for Thursday's Premier League match away to Wolves.

It was the corresponding fixture last season where Rashford was dropped due to turning up late to training.

Ten Hag also said Rashford's behaviour was 'unacceptable' when he celebrated his birthday last October after losing against rivals Manchester City.

The Daily Mail says the latest incident has caused anger among fellow United players.

A source said: "The players were told he was too ill to train, and then it came out that he'd been in the nightclub.

"They couldn't believe that he would do that given the situation the club is in."

Rashford has struggled on the pitch this season, scoring just four goals in all competitions.

It has been a difficult period for United, having crashed out of the Champions League at the group stage and faltering in the Premier League.

United have the power to fine Rashford two weeks' wages, worth around £650,000.

Reacting to Rashford's absence at Newport, England legend Alan Shearer admitted the situation did not look good for the forward.

Shearer said on BBC One: "If it’s an internal matter, you’d think something is up. There’s a huge talent in there with Marcus Rashford.

"We’ve seen him be disciplined last season when he was late to a meeting before a game but something is clearly wrong - either at home or in his relationship with the football club.

"He can’t keep doing this, he can’t keep wasting his talent because it’s not right.

"He needs strong management, someone to get hold of him and tell him there’ll be huge regrets come the end of his career if he continues doing this.

"You can’t keep doing it, it needs sorting now. Thirty goals last season, four this season.

"When I see him play, it looks like he’s got the world on his shoulders so it needs sorting now because he can’t really deal with it."
