Manchester United take on Liverpool on Sunday and one player has come under fire

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has launched a scathing attack on Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho, labelling the young winger a "wrong'un" and warning he has "no chance" of fulfilling his potential.

Writing in his Daily Mail column, the former midfielder delivered a brutal assessment of the 20-year-old Argentine's attitude and future prospects at Old Trafford.

The criticism comes as Garnacho has found himself increasingly marginalised under new United manager Ruben Amorim, with reports suggesting his representatives are exploring potential January moves.

Garnacho started United's first two games under Amorim, scoring in the Europa League victory over Bodo/Glimt in November.

However, the winger has since started just twice in nine subsequent appearances, highlighting his fall from favour under the new manager.

Most notably, Garnacho was left out of the matchday squad entirely for the Manchester derby, alongside Marcus Rashford.

While he has since returned to the squad, the Argentine has been limited to brief substitute appearances.

This represents a significant change for the youngster, who made 50 appearances across all competitions last season.

In his stinging critique, Souness questioned Garnacho's status at the club, writing: "Can someone remind me of just who he is?

"The last time I looked he was only a 20-year-old boy."

The former Liverpool captain continued: "One who is only one step up, on a ten-rung ladder. Who are you?"

Souness was particularly damning about Garnacho's on-field conduct, stating: "He acts like a 'wrong 'un' on the football pitch.

"Unless he changes, he's got no chance of fulfilling what obvious potential he has."

The criticism follows reports that Garnacho had 'disrespected his manager' on the touchline.

Souness also took aim at Manchester United's broader approach to young talent development, suggesting it's a long-standing issue at the club.

"Going back to my generation and before, Manchester United have always had a problem in keeping players grounded," he wrote in his column.

The pundit criticised Premier League clubs' approach to young talent, stating: "Premier League teams are forced into paying fortunes to kids because, if they don't, someone else will."

He added: "But you're only ever investing in potential, and more often than not when you give a young man too much too soon they get in their armchair and never fulfil their potential."
