The former footballer lost his job with the broadcaster on August 22

Today marks three weeks since Jermaine Jenas was axed by the BBC following allegations of inappropriate behaviour.

Yet a scan of the former footballer's social media shows that he appears to be struggling to move on from the saga that has left career with the broadcaster in tatters.

Jenas' axing was sudden and out of the blue. He had previously been seen as the heir to Gary Lineker's throne on Match of the Day, with a widespread expectancy that he would be the man to replace the 63-year-old.

The news broke while he was on air with talkSPORT. Jenas was rocked but did well to keep his cool while revealing that his lawyers had prevented him from speaking about the situation in public.

He is understood to be unhappy and aggrieved at the BBC's decision to axe him, despite admitting to sending unsolicited text messages to two female colleagues.

Jenas, as things stand, is still hopeful of providing enough evidence that the Beeb were wrong to relieve him of his duties.

Sources have said that he is working hard behind the scenes to salvage his marriage with wife Ellie Penfold, having admitted she was 'raging' with his antics.

Jenas sees his own behaviour as 'cheating', even though 'nothing physical' ever happened. He is putting in the graft as he looks to be a better husband and supporting his four children at such a difficult time for his family, having confessed to making 'mistakes'.

Yet what is intriguing is that Jenas is yet to airbrush the BBC from his social media profiles.

After all, the Beeb were quick to distance themselves from the former England star when news of his dismissal broke. A mural featuring his face at their headquarters in Salford was immediately taken down.

Yet on X, Jenas still has 'BBC Sport' in his bio. He also has '@bbctheoneshow', too, having lost his role on that programme as well.

Over on Instagram and it's a similar story.

The words 'The One Show' are proudly written, as well as 'BBC Sport'.

It suggests that Jenas is yet to fully come to terms with his dismissal. If he was ready to move on and proceed, surely the terms would have gone by now? Would you really have them still there, three weeks after an axing that has rocked your life to the core?

It is all rather intriguing. Jenas is still hopeful of salvaging his career in television, even if the chances of a return to the BBC appear to be remote.

And yet, if he felt that chapter was truly closed, he'd likely have taken action by now.

It remains to be seen how the saga plays out from here, three weeks on.

Jenas will potentially work for TNT Sports again this season, with that situation poised to become far clearer in the coming weeks ahead.

TNT, after all, have not had access to the information that prompted the BBC into wielding the axe.

His immediate priority is his family, however.

Jenas knows he has done wrong. He has fronted up and accepted responsibility for his behaviour, which indicates genuine remorse.

Once his social media is eventually changed, only then will it appear as though the former footballer is ready for the next chapter.
