Oliver Glasner has had a terrible start to the season for the Eagles and is on thin ice with his side without a win in the Premier League after eight games.

According to The Guardian, Southgate is one of the frontrunners who could be approached should Palace decide to axe Glasner.

Other options include Graham Potter, who previously coached the club's rivals Brighton, and David Moyes.

Potter was spoken to after Roy Hodgson was sacked earlier this year but, ultimately, Glasner was handed the job.

The Austrian initially enjoyed a brilliant start to life at Selhurst Park after steering the club away from relegation to equal their highest ever Premier League points tally of 49.

In total, he played 191 times for the south London outfit while he is close with Palace chairman Steve Parish.

Southgate's last job in the Premier League came at Middlesbrough, where he was in charge from 2006 to 2009.
