Erling Haaland has declared that Manchester City's 115 Premier League charges for financial breaches had no influence on his decision to sign a new contract with the club.

The Norwegian striker expressed complete faith in the Premier League champions, telling reporters in Paris: "I'm confident that the club know what they're doing."

City, who deny all charges, could face penalties ranging from points deductions to Premier League expulsion if found guilty by the three-person panel that concluded hearings in December.

Haaland dismissed concerns about the charges, stating: "I haven't thought of that or anything."

The 23-year-old striker has committed to an unprecedented nine-and-a-half year contract at the Etihad Stadium, which will keep him at Manchester City until he is 34.

"Of course it [contract length] is a bit unusual. It's not normal. That's also something I like," Haaland said.

The deal represents the longest contract ever agreed by a major club.

Despite his father Alfie's previous suggestions that his son would play in various European leagues, Haaland has opted for long-term stability at City.

"Those are his words, not mine," the striker responded when reminded of his father's comments.

"I think when I signed for City I felt like it was home. I really meant it," Haaland emphasised, expressing his contentment at the club.

When questioned about potentially missing out on a move to Real Madrid, Haaland was direct in his response: "I just signed a nine-year deal, what do you want me to say?"

"I'm super happy with my choice and looking forward to many years in Manchester," he added.

The striker highlighted the positive atmosphere at the club: "I feel like a really positive energy in the club. We've trained really good, we're over that now and we're looking ahead."

Haaland revealed that a new sleeping routine has been key to maintaining his fitness and availability for every City match this season.

"I'm taking good care of my body," the striker explained. "I try to do everything I can to be available for the club, the team."

He detailed his comprehensive approach to fitness: "It's not easy because of so many games, but it's about taking care of your body and getting the right amount of sleep, eating the right things."

"I've probably changed a few things," Haaland added, highlighting his commitment to peak performance.

The striker revealed he has begun monitoring his sleep patterns as part of his new fitness regime this season.

"I started measuring my sleep to make sure I was sleeping well and that was true," Haaland said.

These changes appear to be paying dividends, with the Norwegian maintaining his availability for matches throughout the current campaign.
