The Hoops boss was forced to answer some awkward questions following the match

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has criticised supporters who booed during a minute's silence held prior to their win over Kilmarnock on Remembrance Sunday.

Before kick off, players from both sides paid tribute to those who lost their lives in World War One and World War Two.

However, there were audible murmurs held in the stands with some Celtic fans booing as Kilmarnock star Kyle Vassell laid down a wreath.

After referee Nick Walsh blew his whistle to start the silence, more jeers and whistles could be heard.

The show of respect was ultimately cancelled after just nine seconds.

Speaking after the game, Rodgers was forced to answer some awkward questions - with the Northern Irishman wearing a poppy as he did so.

He says that those who wanted to take part in the minute's silence should have been allowed to do so.

But Rodgers was also reluctant to be too critical and admitted it can be an awkward experience for everybody associated with the club.

"If it's a minute's silence, it's a minute's silence," the former Leicester, Liverpool and Swansea boss told Sky Sports.

"Of course there is a little bit of issue around that each year for us when you do that, but yeah it's always a difficult one that every year.

"But thankfully we get the win on the football side and thankfully we go into the break in a really good place."

While Rodgers wasn't too critical, Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes was left enraged by the behaviour of some Celtic fans.

"Celtic even decided when the minute silence stops. I mean, we don't get these decisions," said the Scot.

"I thought it was awful. Awful.

"Why? I'm not going to lie, I'm not a politician or anything, but it's our ground, it's our minute silence.

"I don't get why we shouldn't have the wherewithal just to stand and show a bit of respect for one minute."
