The north London giants slumped to a 2-1 defeat on Sunday

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou could be in line for a £12million payout if the club decides to terminate his contract following their latest defeat.

The Australian boss, who is just 18 months into a four-year deal at Spurs, earns £5m-per-year over in north London.

Chairman Daniel Levy now faces a costly decision about the manager's future after another disappointing result at the weekend and, if the axe is wielded, The Sun say Postecoglou is in line for a hefty payout.

Spurs suffered a 2-1 home defeat to struggling Leicester City on Sunday, with fans booing the team off the pitch.

The loss marked Tottenham's sixth defeat in their last seven matches.

The result continues a dire run of form that has seen the North London club lose eight of their previous ten games and tumble down the Premier League table.

Leicester, who had been on a seven-game losing streak themselves, managed to compound Spurs' misery.

Postecoglou gave a sheepish wave to supporters before heading down the tunnel after the match.

When asked about his future, Postecoglou admitted uncertainty, saying: "Who knows. I reckon there is probably a fair chunk that will say no."

He added: "I feel like this group of players are giving everything for the club. I have a group of staff that is really committed. I focus on that."

Despite the poor run, Postecoglou remained confident in his team's potential, stating: "I have felt all along that the players are still very committed to what we're doing.

"This is as low as we've been so far this year but I still think that in these last three months we can do something really special and these players believe that."

Addressing the Leicester defeat specifically, Postecoglou acknowledged the emotional toll, saying: "Yeah, it hurts. It hurts a lot. The players gave everything again."
