The Stevenage-born racer finished eighth during the race in South America on Sunday

Lewis Hamilton has moaned about the floor of the Mercedes W14 chassis in the wake of his struggles at Sunday's Brazil Grand Prix.

The F1 star went into the race concerned, having toiled during the first two days in South America.

And Hamilton could only finish eighth, with Max Verstappen once again reigning supreme.

The Brit fears Red Bull will be too strong to catch in the coming years ahead, though has insisted he's determined to achieve success in the future.

Yet Hamilton has now moaned about the floor of the Mercedes car after yet another turbulent day at the office.

"My guess is that the floor is not working," the Stevenage-born racer said when asked where things went wrong.

"The floor is not sucking it down so that pushed us to go to a higher wing, and then we're just massively draggy on the straights.

"We're losing so much time on the straights, there's nothing I can do about it.

"Then we're just sliding through the corners, so we have to look into why that is the case on this rough circuit."

He continued: "Nothing changed in the car from yesterday to today so I knew it'd be a tough one.

"Yesterday I just ate through the tyres with an unexpected lack of pace; I drove better today in terms of making my stints but we were just slow.

"I'm sure there's something within the set-up that we might have been able to have done a bit better, but whether or not that would have put us further up, I can't say.

"It's a setback, but as a team we'll just come together and we'll try and push forward.

"There'll be a lot of analysis this week after today and I'm sure there'll be things like 'Ah maybe if we've done this, it would have been better.'

"I still think that ultimately the car didn't work here for some reason, and that is the way it is."

George Russell was another Mercedes star who experienced difficulties in Brazil.

The 25-year-old was one of six DNF on the day, along with Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, Kevin Magnussen, Alex Albon and Charles Leclerc.

And Russell, like Hamilton, was left unhappy following the race - branding it their 'weakest race of the year' so far.

“Clearly we got something wrong this weekend, still we’re not too sure what that is as yet, but the pace just hasn’t been there," he stated.

“We thought yesterday may have been a one off, but clearly it wasn’t.

"So we need to regroup and try to understand it because 12 months ago this was our strongest race of the year, 12 months later it’s by far our weakest race of the year, so very strange.”

He added: “The car was just slow this weekend.

"The tyres were sliding around and I think what we were doing was the maximum.

“Something doesn’t quite add up, you just don’t suddenly lose a second’s worth of performance and go from a podium-fighting car to just fighting for points.

“We really need to sit down and understand, but clearly a massive one-off this week.”

Hamilton and Russell won't have too long to dwell and reflect on the event in Brazil.

There are now just two races remaining, with the Las Vegas GP due to take place on November 19.

The season will then end in Abu Dhabi seven days later.
