Pep Guardiola will be hoping his star man will be back on the pitch soon

Manchester City have suffered a scare with Erling Haaland forced out of their Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Norway international has scored a staggering 47 league goals for the club since joining from Borussia Dortmund last year.

But City have now suffered a scare with Haaland forced out of their match with Bournemouth.

The forward didn't make a move towards a low cross in the Cherries box towards the end of the first half and appeared to be moving in an awkward manner.

He then appeared to be in discomfort as he trudged off the field for half time.

Haaland was spotted talking to Julian Alvarez and was flexing his injured leg before not coming out for the second half.

City were 3-0 up at the time of the incident, with Guardiola's side hoping to return to the top of the Premier League table.

Jeremy Doku bagged twice for the defending champions, with the winger continuing his excellent start following his summer arrival.

And Bernardo Silva also struck to put City in cruise control.

Haaland's injury comes just days after he missed out on the prestigious Ballon d'Or award.

The forward felt he'd done enough to earn the prize after propelling City to the treble last season.

However, the Norway international could only finish second with Lionel Messi taking the top prize.

Messi won the gong after helping Argentina win the World Cup in Qatar last year.

And Guardiola, speaking before the match with Bournemouth, opened up on how the forward reacted to missing out on the award.

"I saw him so happy to be in contention close to Messi, [Kylian] Mbappe, and the rest," he said.

"It was a good night for Manchester City.

"Big congratulations for Messi and for the awards.

"Man City was there, it is so important for there because we have not been there many times.

"We were important there and he has all his career ahead of him so he has to see it as a challenge and think he can be there next year if he helps the team. I saw him really well when he came back."

Haaland, meanwhile, modestly said that he was only doing his job for City after finishing second in the voting.

“It’s my job, that’s why I’m here. It’s what I’m good at," he said after picking up the Gerd Muller trophy.

“If I had to give my advice I’d say stay hungry, be in the moment, stay sharp.

"This feeling is an amazing feeling and I had it quite a few times last season, and I want to chase this feeling."c

Haaland is now a doubt for City's Champions League clash with Young Boys on Tuesday (8pm).
