Luke Littler has disclosed details of his chat with Luke Humphries after winning Premier League Night 13 in Aberdeen on Thursday.
The 19-year-old overcame his nemesis 6-5 in a dramatic finale to consolidate his grip on second in the standings.
It was an impressive night for Humphries, with the world No 2 often blowing hot and cold this season.
As things stand he's unlikely to make the play-offs this month, with Littler, Jonny Clayton, Gerwyn Price, Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen all currently ahead of him.
Littler, speaking after his victory, admitted that Humphries had told him that he had 'needed the points'.
"Luke has slowed his throw down quite a bit but it was still a good paced game," he stated.
"Luke played very well there and he said to be at the end, 'I needed those two points'. But if he carries on into next week then he'll have a chance.

"Everyone knows he's been struggling but it was good to have us two playing like that and I think his worst leg was the last leg.
"That's the chase now, to break my own record [for nightly wins]. The last two weeks, I've definitely deserved the win."

Discussing his return to the summit, Littler added: "I always want to be on the top and I think Jonny [Clayton], I don't know if he's much bothered about it.
"He just wants to get to the O2 and, obviously, we've both got Qs next to our names.
"Now it is just time to chase and hopefully break my own records."
Littler has faced crowd hostility in recent weeks.
Ever since a fiery bust-up with Van Veen, fans have continuously booed the youngster.

But Littler was pleased with how spectators treated him in Scotland, with the world No 1 saying: "I'm just comfortable. Practice was going well and I'm glad to bring it to the stage.
"The crowd were OK tonight but definitely not the loudest. The loudest they were was when I was going for double 10.
"I think we need another Scottish player in the Premier League to pump the atmosphere up a bit.
"Can't wait for next week."
