The 20-year-old has fired a warning to his fans

Carlos Alcaraz has revealed he's 'saddened' after discovering scammers are pretending to be his representatives and asking for money in exchange for meeting him.

The 20-year-old is currently in the spotlight after his sensational win at Wimbledon last month, with the world No 1 beating Novak Djokovic in five sets.

As ever, with success, his popularity soars.

And Alcaraz has been made aware of scammers pretending to be him so he can exploit his fans.

He's now taken to social media to reveal he's 'saddened' after learning of the unpleasant scheme.

Writing on Instagram, he said: “It has been brought to my attention that there are individuals who are falsely claiming to represent me and offer fans to meet with me if they pay.

"My team and I are not behind any of this soliciting, nor do I participate in meetings like this!

"My fans are the best and I am saddened that individuals are trying to take advantage of them."

Alcaraz is currently enjoying some time off after his remarkable Wimbledon triumph.
Djokovic had been the strong favourite to reign supreme at the All England Tennis Club, having won the last four men's titles.

The Serb was hoping to equal Margaret Court's record of 24 Grand Slams, with no player in the sport's entire history managing more.

And Djokovic was also targeting an eighth Wimbledon crown that would have seen him equal the record of Roger Federer.

The 36-year-old won the first set and was then expected to reign supreme once again.

Yet Alcaraz came roaring back to win 1-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 3-6 6-4 and claim a second Grand Slam of his career in the process.

The Spaniard is set to take part at the Canadian Open on August 7 as he steps up his preparations for the US Open, which is due to commence later this month.

He won the US Open last year, seeing off Casper Ruud in four sets to claim his first major at the age of 19.

And whether he can follow that up with another brilliant triumph remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Roger Federer's old coach Severin Luthin has warned Alcaraz that he can't afford to get complacent as he hunts more Grand Slam glory.

Speaking to Blick, he said: “He definitely has what it takes to win many Grand Slam tournaments and yet we don’t know what will happen in two years’ time.

“What if he hurts himself? What if there’s another one coming out in a few years that we all say is even more incredible?

"And how someone will react to the great success is something we can’t estimate that early on."

And Luthi also labelled Alcaraz a 'very complete player', too.

“I like watching him, he plays in a variety of ways, something always happens when he’s on the court,” he added.

“I really like his energy. He also still has ups and downs in his service games.
