Frank Warren has furiously dismissed claims that Tyson Fury broke rules regarding his shorts height during his recent rematch defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia.

The heavyweight boxer's promoter hit back at suggestions that Fury's shorts were worn too high during the bout, which saw the Ukrainian secure a unanimous decision victory.

Warren, founder of Queensberry Promotions, expressed particular outrage at journalists who had questioned the legality of Fury's ring attire.

The controversy adds to pre-fight disputes about rule compliance, which included earlier debates about Fury's beard.

Speaking to Box Nation, Warren said: "One of the journalists talking about him wearing his shorts up to underneath his nipples... bulls**t is it."

"The referee came in the dressing room before the fight. The way he wore them was legal," he added.

Warren emphasised that there had been no complaints from Usyk's team about the shorts.

"Did you hear one complaint about that from the other side? None at all. Some idiot in there who knows nothing about boxing coming out with that and it's just, I don't know, I just find it ridiculous some of this stuff," he stated.

Fury was cleared by the sanctioning bodies of any rule violations, with both the shorts and beard controversies being dismissed before the fight.

The beard issue had been raised by Usyk's team, who disputed whether Fury should be allowed to fight with facial hair.

Warren dismissed this as "a non-issue" and "a total lot of c**p."

Usyk also faced pre-fight scrutiny, with reports suggesting he would be banned from using his cross in the ring.

However, the Ukrainian was seen with the religious object during his corner breaks, despite previous fan theories about him using an inhaler, which he had denied.

Warren has since revised his view of the fight after watching it again, though he maintains Fury should have won.

"I still feel that Tyson won it, I think it's much closer than I thought the first time, but I still thought he won it," he told Box Nation.

The veteran promoter, with 47 years of experience, particularly questioned the judges' scoring of the later rounds.

"I don't see how one of the judges did not give Tyson one of the last seven rounds," Warren said.

He acknowledged it was a close fight, similar to their first encounter, though he had initially expected Fury to stop Usyk.
