A rematch is currently due to take place on December 21

Former boxing star Johnny Nelson has expressed a belief Tyson Fury's rematch with Oleksandr Usyk won't go ahead.

Fury recently lost to Usyk on points, with the Briton doing well to last the distance after clinging to the ropes in the ninth round of the fight.

Both men have confirmed they're up for a rematch, with Fury eager to bounce back after suffering the first defeat of his professional career.

Yet Nelson, speaking to Boxing King Media, can't see a second clash going ahead.

“Unless Usyk retires, I don’t see Tyson Fury fighting," he said.

"The first time they should have boxed what happened? Fight gets pushed back.

"Tyson is the boss, it doesn’t matter what his PR people are saying, Tyson is the boss so if he says he ain’t playing, he doesn’t care about the consequences.”

When asked why he thought that way, Nelson expressed fears over Fury's state of mind - believing the defeat to Usyk will have hurt him.

“I’m basing it on the effect it will have on him mentally, emotionally," he continued.

"He will think I did everything right, what more can I do?”

Nelson then proceeded to claim Fury had too much pressure on his shoulders during his defeat last month, which is why he crashed to defeat in Saudi Arabia.

“I don’t care if it’s not popular what I’m saying, what I’m saying is I know how fighters think and I know what goes on in the gym," he said.

"You can tell how it reflects and how a fighter deals with situations.

"You can tell in the build-up to the fight and in the fight itself, three people going blah blah blah.

"You’ve got to calm it down. That’s everyone else’s nerves and panic deflecting on him.”

Meanwhile, boxing fans have sent messages of support to Fury after he was filmed being escorted out of a nightclub in Morecambe.

The heavyweight star apparently had 'one too many drinks', while he was also filmed appearing to fall on the ground.

Yet DJ Scott Shearing has defended Fury and dubbed the fighter a 'b****y legend', insisting he doesn't' deserve any type of backlash.

"I’m sure you’ve all seen the video of Tyson Fury being escorted out of Nowhere on FB," he said.

"Lots of people with plenty to say.

"The man is a b****y legend, multi millionaire and yet he is still just like you or me.

"He goes out shopping, just like you. Goes to the pub just like you, maybe gets drunk just like you too.

"I get he is a public figure but he is only human.

"I take my hat off to him as everywhere he goes people ask him for photos when he’s just out like everyone else to relax and unwind he always obliges.

"He was in the Strawbs Fri for a good few hours and they were all singing and keeping to themselves.

"Lots of people asked to have their picture taken with him.

"He took the time to do this in fact a young girl I know had her picture with him and he gave her £20. The man has a heart and feelings for god sake.

"In boxing he is a legend regardless of his last fight however he is proud to live in Morecambe and always mentions us.

"Money and fame can bring its own problems when the temptation for excess of anything is there and available, be it buying fancy cars, houses or going out drinking it must be hard to cope with mentally.

"Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t turn it down but your every move is in the spotlight.

"He has his own demons with mental health and all that goes along with it but let’s show the man some respect for his achievements and love of Morecambe.

"We should have a statue on the prom celebrating him not putting him down at every opportunity!!!"
