EXCLUSIVE: Carl Froch has opened up as the two Americans prepare to fight on November 15

Carl Froch believes Jake Paul is 'trying to p**s people off' by making his fight with Mike Tyson a professional bout.

The two men had originally been due to fight earlier this month, only for Paul to end up facing Mike Perry instead after Tyson suffered an ulcer flare up on a flight.

Paul made light work of Perry, beating the former MMA star via knockout on Saturday night.

Despite the huge 31-year age gap between Paul and Tyson, the showdown is set to be a professional fight - instead of an exhibition.

And Froch, speaking exclusively to GB News via Best Payout Online Slots, thinks Paul is trying to rile people by making that the case.

"That's just to p**s more people off," he said when asked about the bout being sanctioned as a professional fight.

"One thing I'll say about Jake Paul is that he's a marketing genius. He's got his demographic, he's got his audience that all follow him and watch him.

"So you've got to admire him for the amount of revenue he's able to generate with his bulls**t.

Froch then went on to say that Paul wasn't in shape, criticising the 27-year-old's weight despite his emphatic win over Perry last weekend.

"My only beef with Jake Paul is that he can't really fight, he's not a professional boxer," he continued.

"So you can't really call yourself a professional boxer.

"I mean he's not even in shape, he looks fleshy, he's got a layer over him."

Many have condemned Paul for going up against a man old enough to be his father.

And Froch has also hit out at the former YouTuber for fighting Tyson, especially given the recent health issues of the boxing icon.

"I think Mike Tyson's too old to be in the ring," said the 47-year-old.

"That's the problem, isn't it? I think that was shown when he got carried off the airplane with his bad back."

He continued: "How can that be classed as a professional bout? How can he expect it to go on his record? Or call himself a professional fighter?

"Professional boxing is governed by weight until you're a heavyweight you know what I mean?

"Once you go over a cruiserweight any weight counts because when you're that big the weight doesn't make a big advantage because it slows you down."

Despite the backlash, however, all signs point to the fight going ahead as planned.

Paul has won 10 of his 11 professional showdowns, with a defeat to Tommy Fury last year the only time he's failed to come out on top.

As for Tyson, the 58-year-old has won 50 of his 58 fights. His last clash was in 2020 when he drew with Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition.
