Anthony Joshua will fight Daniel Dubois later this month

Daniel Dubois has insisted that he will overtake Anthony Joshua as the face of heavyweight boxing in Britain after their seismic clash later this month.

Dubois will look to defend his IBF heavyweight title when he faces AJ on September 21 at Wembley in an all-British affair.

The 26-year-old boasts a record of 21-2, having lost to the all-conquering Oleksandr Usyk and Joe Joyce, though he claimed the IBF title earlier this year after his technical knockout victory over Filip Hrgovic.

And at his age, DDD is still comparably young to some of the other big names in the heavyweight division while he has told Joshua that he will move past him in the sport.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Dubois said: "I can't wait it is all written in the stars for me and I have to hold on to my belt.

"I want to put on a show that no-one will forget. I am just staying in my lane at the moment.

"I'm just sharpening up my tools, I need to hold on to my belt. On the night I'm just ready to fight and go to war.

"I just believe it is my time now, it is all on the line for me and it is time to shine.

"It is my time to steal the show and reign for a long time. I'm ready to fight on the night, and ready to hear that first bell."

Dubois might be defending his belt for the first time but he will be the underdog when he takes on Joshua this month.

Like his opponent, AJ suffered defeat at the hands of Usyk after back-to-back defeats in September 2021 and August 2022.

Since then, the 34-year-old has won all four of his bouts against Jermaine Frankline, Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.

The last fight agianst Ngannou in March earlier this year saw him knock out the MMA legend, renowned for his own destructive power, in a huge statement to the boxing world that he is ready to box again for the big titles.

But Dubois has two howitzers for arms and can knock out any fighter on his day, making him a dangerous opponent while his victory over Hrgovic proved plenty of people wrong.

However, this will be Dynamite's biggest bout by far when he takes to Wembley on September 21 in what promises to be a British bonanza of boxing and he is not willing to show an inkling of fear.

"You can never let that happen," he said. "Even if you are scared you've got to act brave!

"For a fighter, if you don't have a bit of fear then you're crazy. But fear is good and it's my friend when I'm in the ring."
