Sarah Ferguson "reconciliation" with the Royal Family could cause an unexpected Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie olive branch, a royal historian has claimed.

The Duchess of York, who divorced Prince Andrew in 1996, has made several public appearances with the royals under King Charles III's reign.

Sarah Ferguson, 64, walked side-by-side with the Duke of York on the Sandringham Estate last December.

This marked her first time returning to the royal Christmas festivities since 1991, as she officially separated from Prince Andrew the following year.

Since then, Fergie has appeared at King Constantine's memorial service alongside her ex-husband, Queen Camilla and Princess Anne.

She was also one of the few royals who attended the Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle where King Charles was also present.

The duchess's apparent "reconciliation" could have a positive impact on Beatrice and Eugenie's royal careers, a royal historian has claimed.

In an exclusive interview with GB News, Gareth Russell said: "We've seen Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have very prominent positions at things like Christmas events.

"Obviously that's more private, but there does seem to have been a reconciliation between the Windsors and the former Duchess of York."

Since the King and Princess Kate's cancer diagnoses, many commentators have suggested the possibility of Beatrice, 35, and Eugenie, 34, taking on royal duties to fill the gaps in the royal diary.

However, their father Prince Andrew had to step down as a working royal in 2019 due to his affiliations with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which has caused further embarrassment for his daughters.

But Russell argued that it would be unfair to punish the York Princesses for their father's mistakes.

He continued: "I would be surprised if we would see either of the princesses being demoted or ignored in the future simply because of their father's actions."

Beatrice lives in St James's Palace with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and their two-year-old daughter, Sienna.

Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie shares two sons with her husband Jack Brooksbank, named August and Ernest.
