Sarah Ferguson is set to head to Australia after a major gesture to King Charles and Queen Camilla.

The Duchess of York revealed she is visiting Australia at the end of October for her children's book.

She also plans to use the trip for her work with a non-profit organisation, Youth Impact Council, that aims to help different generations communicate.

She said: "I will be visiting Australia at the end of October for my children's books and for my work with the Youth Impact Council, a non-profit organisation that opens lines of communication across generations, bringing together future leaders.

She added: I am committed to listening and learning from the next generation."

The 64-year-old former wife of Prince Andrew postponed her trip to Perth to avoid clashing with King Charles and Queen Camilla's six-day royal tour of the nation.

She cancelled a special guest appearance at the Festival of Fiction "so as not to distract or detract in any way from the tour of Australia by His Majesty the King."

She continued: "Due to exceptional demand, she will be returning to Perth on November 1 at 6.30pm for a special event at Joondalup Resort and apologises to anyone who is inconvenienced by the change of date."

King Charles and Queen Camilla have just returned from their nine-day royal tour of the South Pacific.

Due to the King's health concerns, the couple visited Sydney, Canberra and Samoa on a shortened tour.

King Charles announced his cancer diagnoses in February and returned to undertaking engagements in late April this year.

The tour of the South Pacific has been described as hugely successful despite minor republican protests.

Their visit was the first by a reigning monarch to Australia since 2011 when Elizabeth II visited for the last time.

Charles and Camilla last visited Australia in 2018.

The palace announced that long-term plans for the King to resume twice-yearly overseas tours next year are in place, subject to doctor's approvals.
