Princess Anne's daughter chooses to keep her social media strictly private

Mike Tindall accidentally shared his wife Zara's private Instagram account over the weekend when he reposted a photograph from their trip to Rome.

The former rugby star and his wife travelled to the Italian capital for the Ryder Cup, a major golf tournament, where pictures of the couple were uploaded to social media.

Unlike Mike who boasts an impressive 597,000 followers, Zara has a private account with a more modest 207 followers.

The journalist Di Stewart, who was working at the Ryder Cup, posted a picture of Mike and Zara on her Instagram and tagged both their accounts.

Mike, 44, reposted the photo on his Instagram story, exposing Zara's private account handle to his 597,000 followers.

The royal couple tied the knot on June 30, 2011, in Canongate Kirk on Edinburgh's Royal Mile.

In his new ITV programme Grand Slammers, the 44-year-old opened up about his marriage of 12 years.

He said: "Everyone thinks that just by marrying Zara that means it's all fine and dandy… But that doesn't stop the fact that you need a job.

"And it's not that easy, you know - you get quite institutionalised into rugby, it's a way of life and you leave the game and that's not there.

"I don't think you can ever sort of describe when you're so used to being around that many people, and understanding, because of it being ingrained in you, where you fit in to then not being that person.

"Zara would say if she was honest it was probably a year it took me to figure out what I was, who I was going to be."

Princess Anne's daughter was not entitled to become a princess because she was not a male-line descendant of Queen Elizabeth II.

This was due to the rules laid out in Letters Patent by King George V in 1917, that only male descendants of the monarch can style their children with royal titles.

This is why Prince Andrew's daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, are both princesses for example.

The late Queen did reportedly try and work around this and give both Zara and her brother Peter official titles.

However, the Princess Royal refused the gesture as she wanted her children to have normal lives and enjoy their own careers.
