The King and Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales posed together at the Diplomatic Corps Reception

The Royal Family "rejected the naming rumours without issuing a statement" in a powerful gesture, a royal biographer has claimed.

The King and Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales posed together for a picture at the Diplomatic Corps Reception earlier this week.

This photograph of Charles, Camilla, William and Kate was a powerful gesture, according to royal author Gareth Russell.

He suggested that the release of this photograph was a way for the Royal Family to release a statement after the Endgame naming row controversy.

He exclusively told GB News: "The intent was very much to break with precedent, because with these sort of Diplomatic Corps events, you don't usually get a formal clear photograph of the Royal Family.

"So this was a gesture of solidarity.

"It would be very surprising if it was not intentional."

During the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, official pictures from the Diplomatic Corps Reception were usually not released.

Instead, royal fans would tend to rely on pictures through car windows to get a glimpse at royal tiaras worn by the late Queen Elizabeth II, Camilla and Kate.

Whereas King Charles "intentionally" released a picture that showed "solidarity", Russell claimed.

He added: "The King is very much showing solidarity with the Prince of Wales [in this picture] and vice versa.

"So it is a united front. It is also a confident front."

The Royal Family have not yet commented on any of the controversial claims made in Omid Scobie's book, Endgame.

Russell suggested that this photograph was a way for the family to release a visual statement without a written one.

He claimed: "[The photograph] was a good idea as it rejects the rumours without having to specifically issue a statement.

"The photograph was its own statement of unity and family solidarity."
