The Princess of of Asturias will one day rule Spain as Queen

Queen Letizia of Spain ensured all eyes were on her daughter, Leonor, Princess of Asturias today with her clever style decision.

The 51-year-old Queen wore a repeated dress today that was already in her wardrobe, to not steal the limelight from her daughter's birthday celebrations.

Princess Leonor turned 18 today and celebrated by swearing an oath to the Spanish constitution.

She officially became the heir apparent today, after her father King Felipe VI.

For the occasion, her mother Queen Letizia wore a blue Carolina Herrera dress from the Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection.

Wearing a 10-year-old dress was likely intentional to ensure all eyes were on her eldest daughter.

Letizia teamed her dress with lots of other repeated items, such as her Carolina Herrera fur-trimmed cape in tan.

Finally, she carried her Magrit blue clutch, wore a simple pair of beige pumps, and accessorised with an old pair of Bulgari earrings.

Princess Leonor looked fantastic for her birthday, choosing a bespoke Sastreria Serna white trouser suit.

Based in Madrid, the brand makes bespoke tailored suits for men and women, which explains why Leonor chose it for her special day.

The 18-year-old wore a new pair of Lodi "Maleo" pumps, which are made of off-white leather.

Leonor further accessorised with Gold and Roses Joyas "Sasa Crawler" Tanzanite earrings.

Their description reads: "Sasa ('now' in Swahili) symbolises through tanzanite the desire of our generation: to live intensely every moment as if it would never end.

"The movement of Sasa’s designs suggests a continuous rebirth between the ephemeral and the eternal, which creates a splendid play of light and reliefs between 18kt rose gold, rhodium-plated black gold and precious stones."

These earrings sell for a whopping £1,614 in British Sterling.
