King Felipe and Queen Letizia are expected to attend a memorial service in the UK tomorrow

Queen Camilla is set to meet King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain during a memorial service at Windsor Castle tomorrow.

The Queen is expected to lead the service for the King’s second cousin and close friend, the late King Constantine II of Greece.

Following King Charles’s cancer diagnosis, the monarch is predicted to miss the funeral as he is currently not undertaking public engagements.

The King and Queen of Spain will also be joined by Felipe’s parents, former King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia, at a service at St George’s Chapel.

The last King of Greece has family connections with the Spanish Royal Family: Queen Sofia of Spain is one of Constantine’s sisters.

Constantine also has family ties with royal families in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the UK.

King Charles and Constantine were second cousins through their fathers; Prince Philip and Constantine’s father, King Paul of Greece, were first cousins.

Queen Camilla will also be joined by members of the Greek royal family including the late King’s widow Queen Anne-Marie and their eldest son Crown Prince Pavlos.

Constantine died at the age of 82 on January 10, 2023, after spending a number of years ill.

The Greek King spent almost 50 years living in North London when the Greek monarchy was abolished.

A number of British royals attended his funeral including Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

King Felipe of Spain has met with the British royals on several occasions in the past few years.

Last year, Felipe sat in the exclusive Royal Box at Wimbledon and was pictured greeting the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The King and Queen of Spain were also invited to King Charles’s Coronation at Westminster Abbey last May and attended the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

In 2017, the Spanish royals visited the UK on a state visit during which the late Queen Elizabeth made a speech emphasising the connection between the two countries.

The Queen said: “This State Visit is an expression of the deep respect and friendship that describes relations between Spain and the United Kingdom.”
